Now it's set in stone, 2011 will see a Royal marriage. Time will tell if there is going to be a repeat of the memorable pictures that have accompanied previous Royal weddings when Prince William ties the knot this year, but whether or not the uk grinds to a halt or otherwise, it is going to be a unique affair.

As for the wedding guests, their difficulties are just beginning. What can you possibly get for the second in line to the throne and his future Wife?!

While a majority of us won't ever have to experience the difficulty of what to get a future King and his queen for a wedding gift, some of us may have to attend relatively imposing weddings. Whether it's for your boss or a wealthy relative, most of us will have to go to weddings that promise to be relatively lavish occasions.

You know from the second the invite hits the floor what the big day will have in store. The perfect wedding is often preceded by the perfect invite, and from the second that pops through the mail box you recognize it will likely be a "finest suit only" occasion. But when you are invited to a fancy wedding that is going to be a grand and exclusive celebration, what should you do about wedding presents?

We not long ago carried out a questionairre that revealed the reasons behind the wedding gift purchases of guests, and one of the queries we asked was if the size of the ceremony influences the presents that guests bought for the couple. According to our results a massive 92% of people were not swayed by the scale of the event when picking out their presents.

Such a huge majority just goes to show that no matter whether you are going to a Royal wedding or an intimate occasion at the community public house precisely the same principles to present giving generally apply. When you're deciding to purchase a gift that's not on the registry, always go personal. Buy something that you know the bride and groom will either use or an item which will remind them of the big day. You don't have to expend a great deal of money, just something that will give them fond memories of what is a fantastic day for them both.

Irrespective of what the size of the wedding ceremony, buy a wedding gift that will mean something to the couple and remind them of their day. The scale of the wedding ceremony should not have an effect on your choice of wedding gifts so bear this issue in mind even if a white envelope with a royal crest drops through your mail box in the next few days.
