Some people are allergic to gold and silver and that will factor into your choice of metal. Platinum, steel and titanium are all harder and more durable that gold and silver. Instead, you can add different types of accent stones. If the ring is a solitaire diamond, then you can really play around with the wedding ring quite a bit. You can have different colours or shapes to the accent stones, or simply have a band covered in diamonds. However, if the engagement ring has accent stones then you absolutely need to make sure that these stones line up properly with the wedding ring.
